HYDE PARK The 137-room all-suite Inn at Bellefield Residence Inn by Marriott International opened its doors on Thursday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Bellefield is located in Historic Hyde Park. The Culinary Institute of America is located across Route 9 from the hotel, which is the focal point of a $1 billion development.

The $55 million, 137-room hotel was created by global hotelier the Shaner Hotel Group LP and opened for operation in January.

The visionary behind Bellefield, Thomas Mulroy, Chairman and CEO of T-Rex Capital Group, LLC, said that the ribbon-cutting ceremony not only officially launched the Residence Inn but also marked the beginning of Phase II of the Bellefiled project, which would turn the forested property into 2 million square feet of development. Eight hundred residential units will make up sixty percent of the transformation, twenty percent will be experience-driven retail space, and twenty percent will be reserved for hotel attractions.

A second hotel, a spa, and more event space accommodating up to 500 people are all planned for Bellefiled, which is positioned as a residential, hospitality, and agritourism destination.

According to Lance T. Shaner, Chairman and CEO of Shaner Hotel Group, LP, the inauguration of the Inn at Bellefield Residence Inn is a significant first step for Bellefield and will enhance Hyde Park’s image as an exceptional tourist destination. The fantastic location and amenities of The Inn at Bellefield are entirely intended to provide visitors with an extraordinary, unforgettable experience that goes above and beyond even the highest expectations. This is going to be fantastic for the neighborhood, Dutchess County, and the Hudson Valley overall.

According to Manuela Roosevelt, director of public relations for Bellefield and wife of David Roosevelt, a grandson of President Franklin D. Roosevelt who lived in Hyde Park, the Inn at Bellefield and Bellefield as a whole provide remarkably amazing attractions. The United Nations was to be housed at Hyde Park as part of President Roosevelt’s ambitious plans for the area. Bellefield is extending FDR’s inspirational brilliance in a way that will thrill, amuse, inform, and delight both tourists and locals, while also yielding numerous economic benefits for this lovely town and surrounding area.

In addition to showcasing original artwork from the Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum, The Inn at Bellefield honors the heritage of Hyde Park by playing recordings of Roosevelt’s fireside chats next to outdoor fire pits. Furthermore, 230-year-old sycamore trees on the property are used to make sycamore wood for the hotel. Farm-to-table bar/lounge The Storyteller serves unique food paired with specialized artisan beers and spirits. According to hotel management, its meal pays homage to the rich fabric of storytelling and piques the senses while stimulating the imagination. The majority of the ingredients come from nearby farms, such as the fruit from Bulich Farm, the honey from Rockland Farms, and the grass-fed beef from Bettinger Farms. In honor of First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt, Eleanor’s Market serves snacks and trinkets. In addition, the hotel will provide a variety of activities for visitors, such as culinary workshops, wine and sake tasting tours, and mixology classes in collaboration with nearby sites.

Hyde Park native Sue Serino, the Dutchess County Executive, praised the Bellefield project on Thursday, saying A dynamic hospitality and tourism destination in the center of Dutchess County and the Hudson Valley is being laid down with the launch of the Inn at Bellefield. As Bellefield grows, it will continue to strengthen the bonds within our community and become a popular destination for both locals and visitors.

The presence of an upmarket hotel is anticipated to bring travelers and their money to Dutchess County, according to Melaine Rottkamp, President and CEO of Dutchess Tourism Inc., which is a key contributor to the county’s tourism revenue. We are thrilled to add Bellefield at Historic Hyde Park to our impressive list of causes for traveling to, residing in, and falling in love with the Hudson Valley. By assisting us in attracting tourists from all over the world to the many excellent sites our area has to offer, Bellefield will help us expand the multi-billion dollar tourism industry in the Hudson Valley. The Bellefield Inn is an essential and welcome part of that ambition.

The opening was marked on Thursday by Michael Dupree, who was the Chairman of the Hyde Park Planning Board when the Bellefield project was simply a concept. The Hyde Park Planning Board was happy to consider and approve Bellefield’s visionary project, and we congratulate the Bellefield and Shaner teams for their commitment to Hyde Park’s future, said Dupree, who recently resigned from the board after years of leading the town’s development. It’s amazing to watch Bellefield’s grandiose ideas come to fruitful fruition.
