Pearl River: The House appropriations bill was passed on Wednesday, paving the way for projects in the Hudson Valley to receive about $36 million in federal funding. Congressman Mike Lawler (R, NY-17) obtained the funding, which will be given to towns in the counties of Rockland, Westchester, Putnam, and Dutchess.

I’m overjoyed to have gotten approximately $36 million in financing for communities in the 17th District of New York, said Lawler. The funding for these projects would greatly enhance the standard of living for people in the Hudson Valley, ranging from restoring outdated infrastructure and dams to expanding pedestrian safety and accessibility to providing clean drinking water for tens of thousands of individuals.

Eight million dollars will go into the Town of Ramapo’s Safer Neighborhoods Project, and another $1.2 million will be used to improve sewage screens in Rockland County. Two other projects on the schedule are the $1.6 million Resource Hub for Disadvantaged Children in Rampo and the $800,000 streetscape enhancement project in Haverstraw.

Support will also be provided to Dutchess County, including $1 million for the building of a service along the Route 22 corridor in the Pawling and $2 million for a water supply mitigation project in the Town of East Fishkill.

$2 million for the Town of Carmel’s clean water infrastructure and $1.25 million to help with the Town of Putnam Valley’s Oregon Corners Pump Station Replacement Project are examples of Putnam County’s support. Additionally, the county was allocated $7.5 million to create a thorough plan for pedestrian enhancement, which included installing and replacing sidewalks. The project’s objectives are to increase ADA compliance, connectivity, and accessibility and safety.

Additionally, Westchester County is scheduled to receive funding for a number of projects, including a $1 million water main replacement project in Ossining, a $2 million water main project in Sommers, and a $1 million Annsville Sewers Project in Cortlandt.

Lawler concluded, noting that this year’s community project funding was four times greater than two years ago in the 17th district. “When I took office, I promised Hudson Valley residents that I wouldn’t stop fighting for them and their priorities in Washington, D.C., and this funding is the latest example of keeping that promise,” Lawler said.
