Westchester man sentenced for sexually assaulting two teenagers

WHITE STRIPE A Port Chester man was found guilty of sexually abusing two teens in separate Rye crimes and was given a 15-year sentence in state prison.

On April 1, 22-year-old Richard Olmino entered a guilty plea to the charges of criminal sexual act and sexual abuse.

In addition, he received a 20-year post-release monitoring sentence and had to register as a sexual offender.

At roughly 12 a.m. on June 23, 2023, Olmino approached a 16-year-old girl jogging through Rye Town Park and begged for assistance. Then, as she attempted to flee, he grabbed her phone and threw her to the ground. He then admitted to the woman that he had a knife before attacking her sexually.

After the attack was stopped by a park security guard, Olmino ran away. At the scene, police found his cell phone.

He was connected by DNA evidence from the incident to another incident that happened on Rye’s Parsons Street on June 3, 2023. He requested for assistance from an 18-year-old woman who was walking home from an after-prom party at around 1:35 in the morning. He then seized her cell phone, intimidated her, and sexually assaulted her.

On June 25, 2023, Rye City Police apprehended Olimo at his Port Chester residence after utilizing his cell phone to identify and find him. The FBI’s Westchester Safe Streets Task Force and the Westchester County Department of Public Safety also provided help.

Since his arrest, Olimo has been remanded to the Westchester County Jail. He also has an outstanding criminal case in Suffolk County and two active warrants in Connecticut, one for public obscenity.
