As of 2023, we have compiled the most dangerous city in the District of Columbia. Why then did I invest time in this? By providing guidance, I hope to assist you in navigating these perilous terrains as you make the decision of which city to call home. I analyzed violent and property crimes in cities with a population of 5,000 or more in order to compile this list. This procedure left 116 cities under consideration.

At six, the level of peril to which I am referring makes headlines on KOMO 4. It is worth noting that the cities that made my list are notorious for carjackings, daylight robberies, and frequent homicides. Certain districts and areas within these cities are particularly hazardous at night and should be avoided at all costs.

It should not be assumed that these communities in Washington are devoid of secure areas. Districts and retail centers are making concerted efforts to enhance present conditions. However, Washington is not solely responsible for the precarious state of these cities. It has thirteenth-most inhabitants. As is typical, problems are inevitable when dealing with such a sizable population.

Lakewood, situated on the southwestern outskirts of Tacoma, is the tenth most perilous municipality in Washington due to its elevated rates of vehicle larceny and violent criminal activity.

One of the most abhorrent incidents to transpire in Lakewood, Washington, was the heinous assassination of four police officers in 2009. A man with an extensive criminal history, Maurice Clemmons, entered a coffee establishment where he fatally shot four Lakewood Police Department officers as they readied for their shift. Sergeant Mark Renninger, along with Officers Greg Richards, Tina Griswold, and Owens, were present.
