It can be hard to find the right city to live in, especially for women who want to grow up in a safe environment. WalletHub has done a new study that shows which U.S. city areas are best for women to do well and reach their full potential.
The website for personal finance compared 182 cities, including 150 of the most popular in the country, and gave each one a score based on things that could affect a woman’s quality of life.
When ranking each place, experts looked at things like poverty, job security, safety, suicide rates, and access to health care.
Columbia, Maryland, came in at number one on the list. Taking into account the cost of living, the city that came in first had the highest median pay for women workers.
The study found that because the wage gap between men and women tends to widen with age, living in a city with better-earning prospects may help women get ahead financially in the future.
