According to Newsweek’s America’s Best-In-State Hospitals 2024 ranking, two hospitals in Texas have tied for the best hospital in the state: Houston Methodist Hospital and UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas.
The ranking was created by Newsweek and Statista Inc., a global market research and consumer data firm, to identify the top hospitals at the state level based on four data sources: nationwide online survey, quality metrics data, patient experience, and PROMs implementation survey.
Houston Methodist Hospital
Houston Methodist Hospital is a flagship hospital of Houston Methodist, a non-profit health care system affiliated with the Texas Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. It is located in the Texas Medical Center, the largest medical complex in the world.
The hospital has 907 licensed beds and offers a wide range of services, including cancer care, cardiovascular care, neurology and neurosurgery, orthopedics and sports medicine, transplant, and women’s health. Houston Methodist Hospital has been ranked by U.S. News & World Report as the No. 1 hospital in Texas for nine years in a row and among the top 20 hospitals in the nation for eight consecutive years.
UT Southwestern Medical Center
UT Southwestern Medical Center is an academic medical center that is part of the University of Texas Southwestern, a public institution that comprises three degree-granting schools and a network of affiliated hospitals and clinics. It is located in Dallas, Texas, and serves more than 3 million patients annually.
The medical center has 1,568 licensed beds and offers a comprehensive range of services, including cancer care, cardiovascular care, neurology and neurosurgery, orthopedics and sports medicine, transplant, and trauma care. UT Southwestern Medical Center has been ranked by U.S. News & World Report as the No. 1 hospital in Dallas-Fort Worth for seven years in a row and among the top 50 hospitals in the nation in 15 specialties.
Houston Methodist Hospital and UT Southwestern Medical Center are the best hospitals in Texas for 2024, according to Newsweek’s America’s Best-In-State Hospitals 2024 ranking.
