PEARL RIVER Orange and Rockland Utilities has added more overhead line personnel in anticipation of the need to deploy its emergency response team to mitigate potential damage and restore power in the event of a noreaster that brings with it heavy, wet snow and strong gusts. Just after midnight tonight, the storm is predicted to begin roaring into the area and to taper down Tuesday afternoon.
Snow emergencies have already started to be declared by municipalities.
It is now anticipated that the storm would dump four to ten inches of heavy, wet snow on the area, which is more snow than was previously anticipated. There could be 35 mph wind gusts.
Early on Tuesday morning, customer service representatives, overhead line crews from O&R companies and contractors, tree removal teams, and other O&R emergency response staff will be mobilized and dispatched.
With the addition of about 200 mutual aid personnel, O&R’s overhead line field forces will grow significantly.
