Six area school districts awarded federal funding to purchase electric buses

Fresh York The US Environmental Protection Agency is providing $7.7 million to six school districts in the wider Hudson Valley-Catskills region so they can buy new electric school buses.

Governor Kathy Hochul stated that the shift to a fleet of zero-emission school buses “shows our commitment to the health and well-being of the next generation as well as our commitment to a greener future.”

$145,000 will be given to the Arlington Central School District for a single bus.

Two million dollars will be given to the North Rockland Central School District to buy ten buses.

$3.4 million will be given to the Hyde Park Central School District to buy 17 electric buses.

$345,000 will be given to the Margaretville Central School District for a single bus.

For four buses, the Scarsdale Union Free School District will earn $800,000.

The Tarrytowns Union Free School District will get slightly more than $1 million to buy five buses.
