Several police respond to Poughkeepsie High School fight

PUCKHKEEPSIE Several police agencies were called to the Poughkeepsie High School grounds on Monday afternoon after school due to an altercation that broke out after dismissal. Police removed two teenagers from the scene.

According to the police, between forty and fifty teenagers congregated around a fight that was happening between a few pupils.

Town of Poughkeepsie police responded to the altercation alongside every on-duty city police officer due to a personnel shortfall at the City of Poughkeepsie police department.

A 16-year-old girl and a 16-year-old boy were transported to the City of Poughkeepsie Juvenile Division of the police department after the crowd had dispersed. According to officials, both teenagers are being charged with several crimes for their involvement.

Due to their ages, the proceedings will be moved to the Dutchess County Family Court.
