Following allegations that an aide to Democratic Sen. Ben Cardin filmed a s*x tape in a hearing chamber on Capitol Hill, Jill Biden’s previous claim that “decency” was on the ballot in 2020 has come under fire.
The Daily Caller published a brief video of two men having s*x in the Hart Senate Office Building hearing room on Friday. Newsweek has not independently confirmed the validity of the film.
Following the release of the s*x tape, conservatives and supporters of former President Donald Trump have recalled the first lady’s previous comments, in which she stated that electing Vice President Joe Biden in 2020 would restore “decency” to the government after four years of Trump as commander-in-chief.
The staffer in question was not named in the Daily Caller report, but other conservative outlets identified one of the guys in the video as Aidan Maese-Czeropski, a legislative aide to Cardin.
A spokesman for Cardin told Newsweek that Maese-Czeropski is “no longer employed by the United States Senate.” “We will have no further comment on this personnel matter.”
Maese-Czeropski stated on his LinkedIn page that people have assaulted him to further a political objective.
“This has been a trying time for me[…]”While some of my prior behaviors have demonstrated bad judgment, I adore my career and would never disrespect it. Any attempts to describe my conduct otherwise are false, and I will investigate my legal options in these areas,” the former aide stated.
By email, Newsweek reached out to the White House, the Biden campaign, and a Trump representative for the response.
“Decency is on the ballot,” Jill Biden wrote in a post on X, formerly Twitter, just before the 2020 election. On Saturday night, right commentator Tomi Lahren tweeted on the platform, “Remember when Jill told us decency was on the ballot?”
“The decency,” Lahren said, with a screenshot from a Breitbart report on the s*x tape scandal.
“Is this the ‘ return to normalcy’ we were promised by Joe Biden and the Democrats?” wrote the conservative Libs TikTok account.
Former congressional candidate Robby Starbuck commented that Jill Biden “was right, decency was on the ballot, and the outcome was indecent.”
One Twitter user put together a video using the president’s August 2020 comments in which he said that “character,” “compassion,” and “decency” were on the ballot and highlighted scandalous incidents that occurred during the Biden administration, such as when a transgender influencer went topless during a Pride Month event at the White House earlier this year.
“Joe Biden: Decency is on the ballot,” commented @WesternLensman accompanying the video, which has received over 1.8 million views.
