POUGHKEEPSIE—On Thursday, the Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse (CPCA) honored state senator Rob Rolison (NY-39) for his efforts to stop child abuse. At the yearly CPCA gala, Rolison received the Shining Bright award from CPCA Board Chair Renee Fillette. The CPCA commemorated 50 years of advocacy at this year’s dinner.

In addition, Jacqueline Montfort of Montfort Brothers received the first-ever Heart of Gold award from the CPCA in recognition of her selfless commitment and overwhelming generosity to children and their families. Similar to Rolison, CJ Tomaskovic of Merrill Lynch was also given the Shining Bright award for his efforts to protect children.

Rolison has fought for children’s protection during both his first and second careers as a police officer and public servant. As ranking member of the New York State Senate Children and Families Committee, he can currently make a significant impact on the lives of children in our community, according to Fillete.

Fillette began by summarizing Rolison’s campaign work and work history before expressing gratitude for his friendship with the children whose names and faces you will never see but whose lives are improved and made safer by your work. This is how Fillette ended her remarks, honoring Rolison.

I am delighted and honored to accept this distinguished award, Rolison said. During my years serving the community as a police officer, county legislator, mayor, and state senator, I have consistently prioritized the safety and well-being of children and families. The hardworking and talented CPCA staff continues to safeguard the welfare of our most vulnerable, and as Ranking Member on the Children and Families Committee I am committed to supporting them in this critical mission.
