Rallies across the Hudson Valley call for end to Israel’s attacks on Gaza

MID-HUDSON Calls for an end to what demonstrators claim is Israel’s ongoing genocide in the Gaza Strip were made during rallies on Sunday in Kingston, Beacon, Poughkeepsie, and Middletown.

Attending the Middletown event, one of the organizers, Mia Inouye, said she didn’t think Israel wanted to completely destroy the terrorist group Hamas.

First of all, we are aware of the current situation in Gaza and that there is no strategy in place to remove Hamas. Israel is essentially attempting to seize territory, and we must first halt this and the slaughter of civilians in order to allow the Palestinian people to continue their quest for their own form of self-determination, the speaker stated.

Inouye was questioned if the Palestinian people should take up arms to drive Hamas out of Gaza, given that the organization’s ultimate purpose is to destroy Israel.

Regarding it, I have no opinion. That is not, in my opinion, the conflict that Americans face. I have faith in the Palestinian people to band together and identify the political entity most suited to serve as their representative in the quest for self-determination.

Israel is allegedly getting ready to launch a ground attack on Rafah in the interim.
