PUCKHKEEPSIE On February 17, 2024, the Fishkill Polar Plunge will take place at the Sharpe Reservation in support of the competitors of the New York Special Olympics. Todd Bender, a reporter for Mid-Hudson News, and Chris Marino and Felicia of Q92 FM got together on Tuesday to talk about getting ready for the 26th annual Freezin’ for a Reason Polar Plunge.
Every year the weather is different, and in previous years, participants had to use chainsaws to chop the ice off the lake before they could jump. There have been unseasonably warm years in the past. For this year’s event, the forecast is still pending.
In anticipation of his fifteenth annual jump, Chris Marino is not playing around. As he demonstrated in the studio for Mid-Hudson News, his recommendation is to Be the Ice.
In addition to options to give to the New York Special Olympics while staying warm and dry, there are still seats left for individuals looking to jump into a lake in February.
