NEW BURGH Late on Wednesday afternoon, a stolen car chase that started in the Brewster area resulted in the arrest of a suspect in the City of Newburgh.

Just after five o’clock in the evening, state police tried to pull over the stolen car on Interstate 84, but the driver decided to take off running and head west on the interstate. Although the vehicle continued to drive westward over the Newburgh-Beacon Bridge onto Route 9W south and into the City of Newburgh, troopers attempted to pull him over near the Ludingtonville Road exit.

The driver of the car was trying to escape on foot when it came to a stop near Carpenter Avenue and Van Ness Street. A few moments later, he was captured and placed under arrest.
