Newburgh man with 28 criminal convictions pleads guilty to shoplifting over $2,000 worth of merchandise

Newburgh man with 28 criminal convictions pleads guilty to shoplifting over $2,000 worth of merchandise

MONROE When he returns to court in April, the 35-year-old Newburgh man who admitted to grand larceny for stealing more than $2,000 worth of goods from the Town of Monroe Target store is anticipated to serve a one- to three-year prison sentence.

Joshua Claybourne has been convicted of 28 crimes total, including three felonies.

On May 30, 2023, Claybourne was accused of leaving the Target store in Monroe with a shopping cart full of merchandise worth more than $2,000.

During his plea hearing, Claybourne acknowledged that he had been convicted of grand larceny in the past and that he had taken the merchandise without paying for it.

State Police looked into Claybourne’s most recent criminal behavior and took him into custody.
