Monticello police chief resigns abruptly
Robert Mir

MONTICELLO Village Police Chief Robert Mir announced his resignation on Monday, March 19, 2021, with immediate effect.

The mayor said no reason was given for the abrupt resignation, but Nikolados said Mir had been serving with an expired employment contract for some time.
Prior to serving as Monticello chief, Mir had been police chief in the Village of Liberty.
Nikolados said Lt. Mark Johnstone has been appointed acting chief.
