Middletown to require city licenses for tobacco, hookah, vaping stores

MIDDLETOWN The state’s legalization of cannabis for adult use did not take off as planned, and Middletown officials are tired of the goods being sold and used illegally. As per Mayor Joseph DeStefano’s statement, the common council passed a municipal ordinance on Tuesday night that requires licenses for establishments that deal with tobacco, hookah, and vaping.

For many different reasons—each of us had our own—we all took a very strong stand against the while cannabis problem when the state law was released. However, I believe we can all agree that we knew the State of New York would botch it up, and they did. He added that it’s getting worse and worse because they keep screwing things up.

DeStefano stated that all it takes is a trip to Manhattan’s Time Square to count the number of unlicensed businesses offering cannabis goods.
