Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene charged President Joe Biden with treason just hours after she appeared to commit sedition herself.
Greene made the claim during a podcast appearance on Tuesday when she said Republicans should broaden their impeachment attempts against Biden to include undocumented immigrants.
“I’m beginning to believe that impeachment is insufficient.” “I believe these people should face treason charges for what is happening at our southern border,” Greene stated.
The crime of treason is defined as “the betrayal of one’s own country by attempting to overthrow the government through waging war against the state or materially aiding its enemies.” Allowing migrants to cross the border does not appear to qualify.
Greene, however, doubled down on her treason claim on Wednesday, saying on X (previously Twitter), “Joe Biden is guilty of treason, and the Democrat Party has opened a door they should have NEVER opened.”
“They should be forced to live by their own rules,” she said.
Except that the leg she’s standing on has been damaged somewhat by Greene’s call for a “national divorce” from X just six hours before. Greene has previously advocated for a nationwide divorce. She first used far-right rhetoric in February, declaring that the United States should “separate by red states and blue states and shrink the federal government.”
She went even further a few days later. Greene declared during an interview on Fox News that America was on the verge of civil war.
