A man who was serving a life sentence in a Texas jail has managed to get out of the facility, The Texas Department of Criminal Justice announced the news on social media site X on Sunday.
At around 3:38 p.m. local time on Sunday afternoon, Robert Yancy, Jr., who is 39 years old, was never seen again. As stated in a press release issued by the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, he was a member of the Clemens Unit located in Brazoria, Texas.
At the time of his last sighting, Yancy Jr. was donning a black beanie and a black sweatshirt. According to the TDCJ, he was driving a white Nissan Versa with the license plate number DNR9145.
When the public is observed, the authorities have instructed them to contact law enforcement and to refrain from approaching the inmate.
Yancy Jr. was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole in 2022 for the intentional and persistent sexual assault of a child, as stated in the records of the inmate.
KXXV, which is affiliated with ABC 25, stated that his mother, Lenor Priestle, was taken into custody on a felony warrant later on Sunday night during a traffic stop at approximately 8:25 p.m. local time. The report cited Victoria Police.
