MID-HUDSON Politicians from both parties are commenting on the Manhattan jury’s decision, which found former President Donald Trump guilty of all 34 counts of falsifying financial records.

Many Democrats believe the jury rendered the proper decision, but Republicans from all throughout the state argue that Donald Trump could not have received a fair trial.

While visiting Orange County on Thursday, State Conservative Party Chairman Gerard Kassar declared, “Today’s decision is a travesty of justice.” A Manhattan jury, a Democratic court, and a liberal, anti-Trump district attorney orchestrated the entire trial. Although the verdict is not shocking, it is a disgraceful chapter in the history of our country’s legal system. “This decision will not affect the upcoming election,” Kassar continued. Supporters of President Trump have known all along that this is just a partisan show trial. Let’s go on to November.

Zak Constantine, the chairman of the Orange County Democratic Party, stated that the former president ought not to be permitted to seek the presidency.

Although a criminal conviction in New York State doesn’t stop him from running for president, he said, “I certainly don’t think he should be,” adding that it sends a clear statement about what the modern Republican electorate is ready to accept in a nominee.

Regarding himself, Trump declared he would be pursuing an appeal, claiming the trial and decision were tainted.
