Kingston man pleads guild to fentanyl sales and conspiracy

Kingston A 49-year-old Kingston resident entered a guilty plea to two separate indictments charging him with conspiracy and illegal possession of a controlled drug.

Following a protracted investigation, the State Police found fentanyl and a gun at 63 Fairview Avenue in the City of Kingston when they executed a search warrant in December 2021. This led to the filing of one indictment against 49-year-old Peter Bonavita for drug sales.

The Ulster County Sheriff’s Office Corrections Intelligence Unit and Corrections K9 Unit, working with the sheriff’s detective unit, URGENT, and NY/NJ HIDTA, conducted an investigation that led to Bonavita’s identification as one of 11 individuals involved in drug trafficking in the Ulster County Jail in 2023. This investigation resulted in the conspiracy charge.

The sentencing hearing is set for May.
