Georgia is one of five states trying to remove Joe Biden from 2024 ballots

Republican lawmakers in three swing states—Aaron Bernstine of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, Cory McGarr of the Arizona House of Representatives, and Charlie Byrd of the Georgia House of Representatives—have announced their intention to remove President Joe Biden from their respective states’ ballots in 2024.

This action follows the Colorado Supreme Court’s recent 4-3 decision to exclude former President Donald Trump, the Republican front-runner for the 2024 presidential nomination, from the state’s primary ballot.

The Colorado Supreme Court referenced the 14th Amendment, which prevents U.S. officials from holding office in the future if they engage in insurrection after taking an oath to protect the Constitution. The lawmakers say that if Trump can be removed from a state ballot, then so could Biden, his likely opponent.

The congressmen announced in a press release published by Newsweek, “Today, we are joining forces to introduce legislation to REMOVE Joe Biden from the ballot in Georgia, Arizona, and Pennsylvania.”

They challenged the Colorado ruling, claiming that, according to the Democrats’ interpretation of the law, Biden is ineligible to run for political office due to his alleged involvement in an “insurgency” along the southern border and alleged corrupt family business links with China.

Republicans have chastised Biden for the influx of illegal migrants crossing the US-Mexico border, calling for stricter immigration policies to safeguard the border. Furthermore, Biden is being investigated for impeachment by the Republican-led House Oversight Committee for his alleged involvement in and benefit from his son Hunter Biden’s international business transactions, which the White House has continuously denied.

The lawmakers stated their intention to contest the Colorado ruling, underlining the importance of having all candidates on the ballot in all states. They justified their stance as a reaction to what they consider to be communist rule in the country, vowing not to remain silent in the face of perceived dangers to the Republic.

The legislators said about the ballot challenges in a publicly issued statement:

“Today, we are joining forces to introduce legislation to REMOVE Joe Biden from the ballot in Georgia, Arizona, and Pennsylvania.

“The absurdity of radical Democrat judges removing Donald Trump from the ballot in Colorado will be a stain on the American political system for decades. By their very own interpretation of the law, Joe Biden is 100% not eligible to run for political office,” the press release read.

“Democrats’ insane justification to remove Trump can just as easily be applied to Joe Biden for his ‘insurrection’ at the southern border and his alleged corrupt family business dealings with China.”

The legislators closed the press release by declaring:

“Colorado radicals just changed the game and we are not going to sit quietly while they destroy our Republic. To be clear, our objective is to showcase the absurdity of Colorado’s decision and allow ALL candidates to be on the ballot in all states. To do that, we must fight back as Republicans against the communists currently running our great country.”

While Biden has already been removed from the Democratic primary ballot in New Hampshire, the tiny Democratic majority in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives makes legislation to remove him from the ballot unlikely.

However, because of their primarily red state legislatures, Georgia, Arizona, and Texas appear to have better possibilities. Notably, with the exception of Texas, all of these states were won by Biden in the 2020 election, and the current president’s path to an electoral college victory without them would be extremely difficult.
