Fire damages two-family house

BEACON Early on Friday morning, a two-alarm fire at 28 West Church Street in the City of Beacon caused damage to both levels of a two-family building.

Firefighters found fire on the first and second levels with flames pouring out of multiple windows when they arrived, barely three minutes after the report at 5:14 a.m.

Although the building was undergoing renovations, according to Beacon Fire Chief Thomas Lucchesi, one unit was occupied, but no one was home when the fire broke out.The fire departments from Castle Point and the Village of Fishkill arrived on the scene.

While on the scene, three Beacon firefighters received minor injuries.

The Dutchess County incident Investigation Division and the Beacon Police Department are looking into what caused the incident.

Assistance at the incident was supplied by the city’s water, building, and public works departments, as well as Dutchess County Car 17, City of Beacon Medic 1, and Beacon Volunteer Ambulance.

The city was covered by standby fire departments from Glenham and Rombout.
