Dutchess County bus strikes cyclist in Poughkeepsie

PUCKHKEEPSIE Tuesday just before 7:00 am, a man was struck by a Dutchess County Transit bus. City fire and police, as well as Empress EMS, came to the scene and treated the guy. The bus driver was seen attempting to console the semi-conscious man on the Academy Street pavement before emergency personnel arrived.

After being triaged at the scene by firefighters and emergency medical services, the victim was sent to a nearby hospital for assessment and care.

The bus driver was being questioned by City of Poughkeepsie police, and the inquiry is still underway.
