NEW BURGH The civil service examination date for the Newburgh school district’s director of school safety and security has been established. The test will be given on July 13 and applications must be submitted by June 17 in order to take the test. The exam was made available online on May 31, a Friday.

Anthony Geraci, the former chief of police for the city of Newburgh, has been named the school district’s temporary safety director, subject to his passing the exam and finishing in the top three.

During its extraordinary meeting on April 26, the school board appointed him, with a $175,000 annual pay, to begin work on May 6.

In addition to the city, the school district’s civil service duties are managed by the Newburgh City Civil Service Commission.

Geraci is optimistic that she will pass the test and be appointed as the permanent director of safety.
