Bullet found on Putnam school grounds

CARMEL – Carmel police are looking into the finding of a gunshot in an outdoor playground at a school building in the Carmel Central School District on Thursday.

A single shell, according to district officials, was discovered behind the George F. Miller Middle School, prompting the district to impose a stay-in order and security lockdown.

After the finding in the late morning, authorities conducted an investigation, and at approximately 12:30 p.m., the lockdown was removed.

The middle school’s mother of two students claimed that they were scared during the lockdown.

The mother, who wished to remain anonymous, claimed that the district had merely stated that there were security issues at the school.
