Astor opens Liberty counseling center

At the Sullivan County office building located at 20 Community Lane, LIBERTYAstor Services, a provider of mental and behavioral health as well as education services for children, young people, and their families, has formally opened its Liberty counseling facility. Astor, a non-profit organization, offers services for people in the Bronx and Hudson Valley from birth to age 26 in addition to the new campus.

There is a tiered pricing plan that varies according on family size and income. Astor declared in their prepared statement that no one will be refused access to services because they are unable to pay.

According to Yvette Bairan, CEO of Astor Services, “We are committed to providing a spectrum of services to respond to those needs.” Astor Services regularly evaluates the needs in the areas it serves. Child psychiatrists, child psychologists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, social workers, family advocates, and other specialists equipped to assist adolescents and their families make up our multidisciplinary team. Family, individual, or group therapy may be beneficial for children whose mental health concerns interfere with their ability to function in daily life, or for families whose problems include communication, setting boundaries and limits, and other issues. We want to make sure that these supports are easily available to them.

The program is licensed by the New York State Office of Mental Health, and the new facility will enable ongoing collaboration between Astor and county staff, according to Carley Andrews Otero, project manager for Astor Services. Leaders in Sullivan County are often consulted about potential future expansion.
