Another plane diverted to Stewart because of turbulence

Stewart Airport This Friday evening, just an hour before a United Airlines aircraft headed to Newark Liberty International Airport encountered extreme turbulence and was forced to divert to New York Stewart International Airport, another aircraft encountered the same situation.

Due to turbulence on route, Austrian Airlines Flight 89, which was originally scheduled to arrive at Newark Liberty, diverted to Stewart.

At approximately 5:30 p.m., the aircraft made a safe landing with no more difficulties or injuries recorded.

The aircraft was delayed at Stewart for about ninety minutes before it left for Newark.

During the in-flight turbulence, seven people on the United flight were injured.
